I read Squire by Tamora Pierce. It is a great novel and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It fully captures the spirit of the Middle Ages in a fun and gripping way. Plus, Tamora writes with such enthusiasm and depth that it's hard not to fall in love with her books. Basically, it's about a girl who is training to become a knight. She is in her squire year, hence the title 'Squire'. Tamora Pierce is a feminist and I think she can really express that with this book. The whole story is basically about the early fight for equal treatment of women, but does not say this in a preachy or sexist way. This is good, because even though boys do not read this book, she is not being partial and never does say that girls are better than boys, simply equal. When I started reading this book, I literally could not put it down. I was so engrossed! This is an example of literature at it's finest, and I certainly will make sure that all my friends will read this book!
