Sadly, this is the last Spenser book written by the late Robert B. Parker. I have read the entire series starting over 20 years ago, and this installment was a great rainy Sunday afternoon read. The mystery part really wasn't a mystery, but it has always been Parker's gift for dialogue that has made me always return to Spenser's Boston year after year.

As always, Spenser is trying to assure that justice is done (or his perception of justice) and along the way there are a few good meals, several cocktails and lots of clever conversation. In Sixkill, Spenser mostly helps a Cree Indian named Zebulon Sixkill regain himself and the fact that several deserving people are murdered reminds you that despite more and more introspection in the later books in the series, Spenser is a pretty straightforward guy. He lives by his own fairly simple code of honor, has loved the same woman for many years and always tries to do the right thing. He will be missed.
