It's been years since I read a Randy Wayne White novel. His main character, Doc Ford, reminds me of John D. MacDonald's Travis McGee and Carl Hiaasen's Skink --avengers of evil. Exaggerated Floridian characters, settings and crimes ring true if you've read Fla. newspapers. Deep Shadow is a good, fast read.
