A couple of these stories worked better for me than others. While each story has some sort of musical reference, the stories all have recurring themes of memory, nostalgia and the expectations we all have for ourselves and others - can we ever live up to them? The stand out story for me here was the surprisingly funny Come Rain or Come Shine. Ishiguro channels a bit of Wodehouse to create a ridiculous set up and almost slapstick comedy of errors. The other stories have already receded in my mind but I think I will always remember the recipe for dog smell.
