I've said this before, but Brandon Mull has the most creative imagination! I especially love how through all the action and creativity, there are real lessons to learn about morals and values. Evil and darkness are "contagious" in real life too! I really connect with Kendra - I understood especially when she thought that every victory or defeat is always followed by new worries and new problems. My favorite part though, has to be the love story between Patton and Lena. In this book, it involved a bit of time travel so we could see how their wonderful devotion and love all comes together. It's awesome. I also like what Grandpa says on pg 329 "We humans are conflicted beings. Our beliefs don't always harmonize with our instincts, and our behavior doesn't always relect our beliefs. ... We wage war between the person we are and the person we hope to become." So good!
