I am really liking this series. Lots of action and humor, and the characters we met in the first book get more fleshed out in this one.

I love Atticus, he's just a guy, and it's nice reading a male character written by a man. Fills a little bit of the void waiting for the next Harry Dresden. And I love how his power is earth based--his appreciation and respect for the earth warms me. Such a beautiful, natural power.

And Oberon, the wolfhound, is still a funny kick in the ass--Jim the demon dog don't have nothin' on Oberon. :)

Sandra Looking forward to starting this series, there is also a free prequel Clan Rathskeller (Iron Druid Chronicles, #0.5)

Not sure whether you'd already got it or not :)

Awesome. I was wavering on whether to continue with the series, seeing as how I have totally overcommitted myself this month, but will take it on. I liked Atticus and oh my god those cover guys, I want to eat them.

Laura Lulu I want to wash his hair and give him a bit of a trim, but other than that, I wholeheartedly agree.

Dahlink, can I borrow that picture you put up one time when we were talking about Terrible? The rockabilly one? I've been hawking your wares to people without the actual wares.

Laura Lulu Crap. Where was that? I don't think I have the pic, I think I just copied the image location and posted it. Hold on, let me go google...

Laura Lulu Found it super fast. Here's the link to share it:

Wicked Incognito Now lol--that's not quite what I visualized, but close. With some facial scarring added.

Laura Lulu And beefier. But I can't picture him with the pompadour. Well, I can, but I don't want to. He's bald in my head--that hair is just too damn silly.

message 9: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 28, 2011 03:35am) (new)

definitely beefier. And sort of more intimidating, angry...something. Just...more.

is it trashy of me that I want the cheetah print tattoo? Is that something I can explain to the grandkids one day?

eta: thanks, sugarpoodle.

Wicked Incognito Now About tats--people are always saying: "what will you tell the grandkids?" I think that's a stupid argument against tats. I'll say: "I got some tattoos." What's the big deal?

I also find the pompadour difficult to swallow. It's comical instead of hunky. So I picture it more messed up. Kind of scruffy. And I can't deal with the lambchops. Those have to come out of my mental imagery.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah that's a good call. heh.

Laura Lulu Eh, I have three tattoos. I'll just say "Check out Nana's awesome tattoos." Lol.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm thinking of some new ink myself. Just don't know which way I'm inclined. Something Celtic I thought, but I haven't found anything I love yet. What you got, Luls?

message 14: by Laura Lulu (last edited Jun 28, 2011 01:19pm) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Laura Lulu My first was a sun in the small of my back--yes, a tramp stamp. Hey, it was the early-mid 90's--the heyday of the tramp stamp. Although mine's not down between my butt dimples, it's about 4" above that.

Second is a Chinese symbol for "marriage" on my inner heel--we got matching ones on our honeymoon in Hawaii. Awwwww....

Third is a cherry blossom branch on my upper back with the (supposed) kanji phonetic translations of my kids' names. It probably really says "shithead" and "dicknose".

What you got?

The hub has a small tattoo addiction. He has a Celtic cross--his first tattoo was a shamrock on his bicep, then he had the Celtic cross added around that, with the shammy in the middle. He also has a couple of those cool tattoo swallows on that arm, the kids' names on his inner biceps, his family crest on his calf, the Chinese symbol on his foot, and a 3/4 sleeve of koi & water & cherry blossoms on his other arm. He's like the UN of tattoos--Ireland, China, Japan. Although I have China & Japan, too, don't I? I guess I need some Irish.

I would get more, I just don't know where else to put one. I like them where they are easily hideable, but I can show 'em off if I want to. I've always wanted something on my toe--maybe some knotwork there...

Chinese, Japanese, dirty knees, look at THESE!

hehhehehehehe

Or just a terrible misspelling of their names? That would be so sad. Don't ever let anyone try and translate it.

Oooh I like the cherry blossom branch, that sounds so pretty. Same colours as your avatar?

The hub's work sounds amazing. I love sleeves on guys, they are SO hot if they're done right. Koi and cherry blossoms sounds really cool. That must have taken forever. What's his family crest? He has a family crest?

I've got a rose on my ankle (which beats your tramp stamp any day), um I think I was 18. And I've got a very small mandala on my upper arm. I'm thinking of a bigger one on my shoulder somewhere.

Laura Lulu

He just has the shield, not the knight helm and all those leafy things.

My avi colors are darker--my branches are in brown ink instead of the usual black, and the flowers are pink. It's kind of watercolor-ish. But someday I want to get the flowers filled in a bit more red.

His koi 3/4 sleeve & the birds are his best stuff--they're the newest, and he had them done by some snazzy dude in Chicago. The color is amazing. There's a pic of his koi on the dude's site, let me see if I can find it...

Laura Lulu Eh, this is all I can find, it's just "stage 1" of the sleeve. Now there's also a blue koi down to his forearm, and some cherry blossoms. Update your pictures, tattoo dude.

http://www.patrickcornolo.com/Patrick...

The man is addicted to the ink. Now he's thinking about getting this or this.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Hehehe is he thinking of the second one in the...same place?

That koi is hell cool. Is his that big?

The shield is good work too, I love the tree. I would have thought Yggdrasil, but it's Irish.

Wicked Incognito Now Yep. The koi is cool. I've always wanted an Yggdrasil type thing on the small of my back. I also know a lady that had each of her kids design a little something. I've always wanted to do something like that.

I like to keep them where they can be hidden too.

I have a flower vine as a toe ring. I like it, but it's a bad place for a tat. The shoes wear the color off fast. So now you would have to look closely to discern what it is.

I have the standard ankle tat also--a seahorse for some inexplicable reason. I also have a yin yang sun on the back of my neck.

Laura Lulu Lol! I'm teasing about the dragon. And did you look at that first one up close? It's a full back tattoo of barbed penii and literal weeping cores. Good times.

That koi is hell cool. Is his that big?

That's his arm, so yep, it's that big. :)

Here's what mine kinda looks like, but it's on my upper back and only about half as tall as this one--

And speaking of Yggdrasil, that's an awesome tattoo idea...

Or there's always these, if the tree of life isn't your thing...

Wicked Incognito Now hehe. Fresh Prince. That's funny. The one above that is so silly. How uncomfortable must that have been?

I love that second Yggdrasil.

That cherry blossom is gorgeous.

Heh April, ankles attract strange tat decisions for some reason.

Ooooh Laura, that's your hub's arm? How do you stop yourself jumping it every day? Just the arm. Sex with an upper arm, would that work?

Yeah that cherry blossom is super pretty.

This is terrible, I want ink everywhere now.

ETA: Oh my GODDDDD I had not looked at that first picture. Ohmygodmyeyes.

Steph THAT would take some explaining to the grandkids! WTH!? Spiked penises and weepy cores (how do we always end up back on weepy cores?!), dude, what's up with that?? And serious props to a dude who can sit through a penis tat! Keep that dragon to yourself. LOL!

Sandra Imagine having to shave your dragon all the time. LOL

Yep, I'd picked up on the weepy cores, gross, wonder if he knows what's really on his back. hahaha

Wicked Incognito Now LMAO. I didn't look at those links the first time. I love the dragon penis. Although, I'm not sure I could handle that comin' at me weepy core.

Can you imagine spooning him and having to look at that beast of a tat?? Eeewww!

Laura Lulu The color on the dragon is pretty awesome. The back one is utterly frightening. Those cores are weeping a variety of different fluids. Yummy.

Wanna see my dragon?

new_user That is so Joey Hill.

OMG, you must warn me before you link that dragon tat next time. LOL. I see what I've been missing here.

Laura Lulu What? Are you afraid of dragons? Silly girl. ;)

Would it make you feel better to know the bearer of Mr. Dragon is in his 60's?

Yeah, I thought so. ;)

message 32: by new_user (new)

new_user LOL. 60s? No kidding? That's kind of funny.

Steph Oh *brainwipe*, I didn't need to know that. LMAO!!

Wicked Incognito Now Yeah really. I was okay with the just the dragon. Now that I know what the dragon belongs to....ack.

Laura Lulu He looks pretty damn good for 60's though, no? There's another site that has more pictures of Puff, and he actually has his butthole completely tattooed also. And there's a picture of it. There's a little demon dude actually pointing at his butthole.

Although, when a butthole is completely camouflaged in ink, it's less repulsive looking, I have to say. ;)

Steph LOL!! Still gotta give Gpa props for going thru not only penis tats, but a$$holey-o too?! Damn!

Wicked Incognito Now OWee

message 38: by AH (new) - rated it 4 stars

AH I must admit, I was lurking on this review because I didn't know what to say with those weeping cores and the 60 year old dragon. ouch?

message 39: by new_user (new)

new_user Wow....... er, has he spent some time in prison? LOL.

Laura Lulu "Ouch" works, AH. ;)
