The Girl Who Leapt Through Time consists of two stories, one sharing the title of the book and the other being The Stuff That Nightmares are Made of which is apparently an entirely different story. I started this second story before realising this and after asking around and checking out some reviews on GoodReads, I realised that it had nothing to do with the previous story and therefore decided to put the book down here (although, be aware that I will come back to it for a separate review one day).

The first story in this book is more suitably classed as a short story - something which I haven't really read outside of those in children's books. This made the book an entirely new experience for me and one which I feel I would have preferred with a story requiring less attention to detail. Instead, it seemed as though Tsutsui skipped over a lot of the madding out stages and put too much complex detail into the final explanation part of the story. That said, some of this over detailed section was rather enjoyable. I for one really liked the idea that instead of freezing time, the characters were moving in direct opposition to time, causing an apparent freezing of time. Ideas proposed about the future were also very interesting and a dystopian set in that world would have been right up my alley.
