This works best as historical fiction - the struggle of the mill workers in a small New Hampshire town during the Great Depression and the desperation which compels them to go out on strike. The principal characters are not well realized, but the drama of events brings them together. The story covers just one year, written as a series of vignettes from each character's point of view.
