Great book! After the first chapter, i was hooked. This book isn't just one story, it is a compilation of stories, all of them taking place in Ford County. The book was written in an interesting and different way. At first I didn't like the way the book was written, however as the book went on I began to like it.
The book was not about just one topic, each chapter was a different story with different characters, but the same setting, Ford County. He is able to introduce the reader to the situation. Grisham is able set the reader in each story. This mix of random stories would not have worked if it wouldn't have been for the interesting stories. Each chapter seemed like a story and was a a bit longer than normal chapters in other books.
One of the stories was about a trip to a hospital to donate blood. This trip however didn't go as planned. It began with hiding from the police, than going to a strip club, to a shootout in the hospital parking lot. The stories were like mini books. They were wierd, funny, interesting, and bizarre. Than the next chapter was about a family going to a prison and watching their brother/son be executed. But that wasn't all, they had a van in which they hauled him home with after the execution was carried out. These random stories made for a great book.
Things are done a bit differently in the south, and this book shows it. Things done in Ford County Mississippi are worth reading.
