really liked it

This is the story of a man's desire to follow in the footsteps of Stanley the explorer and travel from one end of the Congo river to the mouth on the west coast of the Democratic Republic of Congo, over 2000 miles of country that is beset by lawless insurgents and the frequent massacres of innocents by politically and economically driven factions. This is 2004 and Tim Butcher is a man with a mission that most people thought was madness and destined to get him killed. No spoilers here and it's a book I'd recommend to anyone for it's factual and emotional content.
