This book looks at the changes in hygiene over the years, and raises the interesting point that it is primarily a culturaly based thing and despite a connection between being clean, and germs, what is acceptable in terms of personal hygiene has varied over the years, as has the methods of keeping clean. I found it a fascinating read.
