Actually I didn't read this (past the first page). Didn't have the time. But Mary Barton is an interesting figure, a contemporary of Dickens, she met Dickens in London, and was very well thought of in her time. The book is a bit of a slog, with sentences running paragraphs long and clauses multiplying like guinea pigs.
