This book was such an excellent depiction of how the aristocracy in early modern society could change religions and political views quite unexpectedly and assume it would immediately change in the peasantry as well.

It gives a good look at how peasants actually absorbed this type of information and intermingled it with their own beliefs and practices. And how it was not a two way street between the elite and the peasants.

The miller in question has sporadic views that incorporate several religions and polical regimes.

Very inteesting.
