I usually enjoy things by Neil Gaiman and while I don't hate this series thus far this first volume did not draw me in that much. I still have every intention of picking up number two and giving it a try as well but so far I am pretty meh on the whole thing.

The writing felt a little flat for someone like Gaiman, and so far the story is not that compelling. Watching the sleep God tracking down his possessions should have been more riveting but instead it felt like three very small stories that just didn't fit together that well. Also it felt more like they were focusing on being "dark" then focusing on being actually good.

That being said it was still slightly enjoyable and I've heard that it is the hardest part of the series to get into and I have no doubt that I will be giving volume two a try. I am hoping for major improvement though because again I am pretty meh on the whole thing
