A life without knowing Jesse is a life that Suze fears the most. But she soon realizes that this life is a possibility when Paul who is also in love with her and a mediator just like her plans to get rid of Jesse's ghost by going into the past and preventing his death. Suze, tries to stop Paul at all cost but at the end she is confronted with questions of whether or not what she is doing is right for Jesse or just right for her.
I know I said this with the previous book but I will say this again this book is the BEST book among the series. It really is. Suze struggles to keep Jesse where he is which is one hundred fifty year old ghost wandering the earth and in love with her. I know..I know that sounds cruel and not really love at all. I know what you're thinking that if you love someone why would let that someone wander around the earth for that long and not just set him free or let him live the rest of his life in the past just like the story is about. But Suze really loves Jesse and although it's quite selfish of her but isn't love like that? Not referring to the selfish thing but what I mean is sacrifices. Either way you look at it both of them made a sacrifice with each other. Suze giving up her normal life and Jesse staying on earth as ghost instead of going to the Great Beyond. But at least they are happy. And let's face it you can't have everything in love. It is not like the fairy tales. There will always be sacrifices little ones or big ones. I do feel for Suze and I do agree with her. I do not agree with that " If you love someone let them go" kinda thing. I believe in fighting for your love and for what you want instead of just watching it pass you by. And if you fought with all your might and still it is not within your grasp then that is when you let go. I think it is safe to say that even Paul who is the third party here in this love triangle also feels this way. He is fighting for Suze even when Suze tells him that she does not love him. He fights for his love. Although I gotta say he has a weird way of fighting for it and I don't really agree with the way he fights for Suze. What I'm saying is he should have fought for Suze with love not with plotting how to get rid of her boyfriend kind of strategy.
This is the love story that I really like because the characters in this love story are not the type who can easily be swayed. Not those types of characters that give up easily. Even though Father Dominic and the rest of the characters told Suze that maybe giving Jesse another chance is the best yet she stood by her own decision of fighting to keep him. Although there are times that I think that Suze is being selfish, I mean Father Dominic and Suze's father gave her a pretty good argument about letting Jesse go so you can't blame me for thinking that she was being selfish at one time. And the fact that she also did not ask Jesse about what he thinks fueled this selfishness that I felt for her at one time. But even so, she stood by it and fought for it. And in the end, when she gave up she still succeeded because she is with the man that she loves. And that for me is a great ending. I have one complaint though, I hope that Paul finds another girl not Kelly.
