This was the first Graham Greene book I have read. I am not really a fan of English writers from this era, but this book is artfully written.

After reading the opening paragraph I was a little disoriented. The story moves in a circle so once you finish it feels very natural to start reading the first chapter again. When I re-read the first chapter it was startlingly clear and quite powerful. It would be easy to fall into a never ending loop of reading this book while trying to work out is Pyle is naive and idealistic or if he is actually a talented manipulator set on achieving his goals (both personally and politically).
