The Most Beautiful Book in the World: Eight Novellas

A superbly written and entertaining book. I highly recommend it. The book title is the title of one of the 8 novellas in the book. Each novella is about women, mostly from a woman’s point of view. Though the author is male the stories are very believable and not condescending. The plot of each story is engrossing and often contains a clever, surprise ending.
The author is not only male but also FRENCH. (Rather obvious, with a name like Schmitt, eh mein herr?) The book has been very capably translated into eloquent English. It is truly a polished diamond found in the dusty bookshelves. It has piqued my curiosity to explore the many other European translations of various authors listed in the back.
