I really enjoyed reading this book as an introduction to feminism. It was definitely easy to read and provided many noteworthy quotes. However, the book lacked references to other books outside of bell hooks' own work. She says in the introduction that this book is for people who are skeptics to the feminist movement, and it's her way of referencing a book that deals with an array of topics within the movement. While everyone who reads this book will not take an interest in feminism, the people who do will be left to find their own way among hooks' books and a few other sources. Hooks' speaks a great deal of her coming into feminism. It would've been helpful to know what theorists she was reading as she was finding herself.

Overall, it is a great read. I don't regret reading it at all.
