Ms St. Claire is a consistant winner with me. I like the way she blends the suspense and romance in her novels. There is a prequel, a short story on Ms St Claire's website that introduces the hero and heroine and gives us a little insight into their relationship. I recommend reading it but its not necessary for the story.

In the 1st of the series Guardian Angelinos, Samantha Fairchild, the heroine, is working as a waitress but has aspirations of something greater. Harvard law school. Zach Angelino, the hero, is back from the horrors of war in Iraq, scarred and tortured. They shared a interlude three years prior and Samantha has not been able to forgive Zach for his desertion and lack of communication during that time. In many ways this is a story of letting go of the past and embracing the present. The creation of Guardian Angelinos takes place during this time and sets the stage for the coming additions to the series. But it doesn't take away from the swift and riveting pace of the story. I felt that the story was well developed along with the characters. I highly recommend to those fellow readers who love romantic suspense.
