Dreadnaught (The Lost Fleet: Beyond the Frontier, #1)

Shame on you Mr. Campbell/Hemry. You should have just written a large book and included a resolution. I do not approve of making readers wait a year for the ending of a story. This one just stopped in the middle. As the series has gone on, it is becoming a rehash of Jack's reiterative insistence on not becoming involved in politics even though politics is trying to kill him.
I like the space military battle and how he is transforming the Navy. The politics make a nice counterpoint but it is getting overdone.

Most series will leave you hanging at the end of each book. That's how they keep you interested in the next book. The fact that this is the first of a new series just highlights that.

You know, I didn't realize that this was the first of a new series. I just thought it was book seven of the Lost Fleet. I just saw that in the title when I read this comment. But, even in the first six books, there was a resolution to the immediate situation of that particular book even though the overall problems were continuing throughout the whole series. That is what I had come to expect and enjoy.
