really liked it
bookshelves: picturebooks, read-aloud

How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night? by Jane Yolen, illustrated by Mark Teague is a manners book about bedtime behavior which is part of a successful collaborative author - illustrator series.

The text has great rhymes. The font is large, good for reading aloud or for beginning/intermediate readers. Though the dinosaurs are not named in the text, the illustrations show their names in each bedroom.

The illustrations are fantastic and funny. The dinosaurs show tons of expression whether they are shown misbehaving or behaving perfectly. There are numerous details and plenty of humor. I really enjoy all the childlike behavior from dinosaurs and their teddy bears, children's toys and family pets.

There are many ways to extend the story in schools through science, spelling and writing. Listeners and readers will love the rhymes and illustrations, whether at storytime or bedtime.

For ages 3 to 5, rhymes, dinosaurs, humor, read aloud, manners themes, and fans of Jane Yolen and Mark Teague.
