Not Rice's strongest, that's for sure! Throughout this novel Rice uses words and descriptions which made me awkward and grossed out. I don't mean your good, old-fashioned vampire gore and blood-lust, but rather the word miscarriage repeated 50,000 times and a detailed account of what a mattress looks like when someone's been tied to it for a really long time without any potty breaks. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't the simple existence of such topics in the story that disappointed me- just that her writing style made it all a little... obnoxious.
