I love the Harmless series! There's something about Melissa Schroeder's writing that never gets old. Her heroines are always feisty, her heroes are always dominant, but they always know how to love their woman. I love how Ms Schroeder put some suspense here, and how the attraction between Dee and Micah was imminent ever since they became employer and employee.
Dee has a very interesting history, I love her spirit and her wits, and how she relied on herself all those years. She's THE independent woman who obviously has the hots for the boss, but keeps her desires in check; but Micah just can't hold it anymore, they drive each other crazy. Ms Schroeder really upped the sexual tension whenever they're near each other.
What's great about this story is though they've known each other for two years, they still discovered a lot of new things about each other when they took the next step. I really appreciated Micah holding himself back when it came to Dee, for a Dom who could have any willing sub with a crook of a finger, he really gave Dee time and space, but his aggression wasn't something that scared her away.
Like all relationships, the first stages are the volatile ones because both are vulnerable and have this fear of giving the other too much power over him/her. The author's writing style was fast-paced and never boring, she really showed the signs of a person falling in love - and hard. The actions spoke louder than words. It ended too soon for my taste that's why I didn't give this a solid 5. Loose ends were tied, but I would've appreciated more encore. Still, this was a good and fun read.
By the way, I can't fail to mention how hot the sex was, it's a slow burn, very erotic and sensual, I felt the characters deep passions for each other, and how connected they were. Keep them coming Ms Schroeder!
