Alanna: The First Adventure takes place in the old century in a kingdom where magic exist, thieves, tavern, king, prince, castle, knights,... etc( one of my favorite). The story started with the Trebonds: Alanna, a young, stubborn girl dreamed of fighting and be a knight while her twin brother - Thom wished to be a sorcerer. But, in the the traditional of every noble family, boys have to go to kingdom to practice and become knights, while girls have to go to the City of Gods, and learned to become a lady and magic. Both Alanna and Thom thought that they were having their worst nightmare. So Alanna put forward a plan: she and her brother will switch their place. Thom, and Coram - who accompanied them to the palace and Maude - the village healer who supposed to travel with Alanna to the City of Gods all agreed with the plan.

Maude - teaching both Alanna and Thom about Magic...
When Alanna arrived at Kingdom, nobody recognized her at a girl. She changed her name to Alan, and used a fake letter from Thom and said that she is son of the Trebonds, who went to the kingdom and become a knight. She's soon make friends with the charming George Cooper - King of Thieves, the other knights Gary, Alex, Raoul, the heir of throne - prince Jonathan and make her first enemy: Ralon - a bully. At there, she was really excited to lerned how to fight with sword, wrestling,... with the other boys but also had a lot of terrible problems - she had to hide her true gender, and the training was really hard that there was time she wanted to quit.
During the year, a fewer - created by sorcerer, swept over the kingdom. Alanna had the Gift of healing, but she frightened to used it. A lot of people dead, but Alanna still consider when she should use it. Until her friend, prince Jonathan, had the fever, she decided to use her ability and rescued him. She's soon discover the prince also had magic, and was taught by his adult cousin - Roger. Alanna didn't know why that she had a bad feeling - hatred, angry, not comfortable toward Roger.
She also had a vision about the Black City. She traveled to there with her friends and learned a history about it. She with prince Jonathan had to defeated the Ysandir, creatures that ate human souls. Jonathan learned the true gender of Alanna, and promised he will keep secret.
Together, they won.
In the end, he says he does not care that she is a girl, because she is the best page regardless.

In my opinion, the plot seemed really fascinating and really interesting. But through the pages, I felt like something was missing. It had a lot of action, but not surprised. After the introduction, I felt like I had already know what will happened then. I rated it 3.75 stars and I think I'm quite enjoy the book.
Honestly, I really don't like the cover.
I'm going to read the sequel.
Hoped it will better than the first one.
