“Stan Musial, an American Life” tells the story of “Baseball’s Perfect Warrior, Baseball’s Perfect Knight” through the words of his family, friends and opponents. It leads the reader through Stan’s rise, his stardom and his long reign as The Greatest Cardinal of Them All and leading citizen of St. Louis and baseball icon. I have been a fan of Stan’s since he hit a home run during my first baseball game at Sportsman’s Park many years ago. This book brought back memories, filled in gaps and enabled me to gain a greater understanding of the man who has always been a part of our lives. Based largely on anecdotes, it is an easy and enjoyable read. It is a must for any citizen of the Cardinal Nation, fan of Stan or lover of baseball.
