The Magicians' Guild (Black Magician Trilogy, Book 1) by Trudi Canavan
I really enjoyed the first book and was looking forward to the next two until I read some reviews about them off of Amazon. Apparently one of the characters turns out to be gay in the second book! How disappointing. There wasn't any real hint of this in the first book. It is very annoying when authors do this. They try and get you hooked and then throw something like that in there. I realize there are those out there who enjoy or don't mind reading these kinds of books, but it would be nice if there was some kind of alert on the book that said "if you don't want to read a gay romance don't pick up this book" So if you're bothered by this don't bother even starting the trilogy.
