Another great polical/socio/travelogue book about a region I know little about but would like to spend some time in some day.
The title is a reference to the Cold War and has no bearing on the fact that it happens to be February in Alaska when I finally found a copy of this book that's been on my to-read list for a long, long time.
A good read, not as good as Kaplan's stuff though.
Ended up being an enjoyable as well as informative read. Anyone interested in the former republics of the Soviet Union in Central Asia and especially the vibe shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union, read this.
