Cute story about a skateboarding 16 year old boy in London whose single mom had him when she was 16, and family issues that tend to repeat themselves, "That's the thing in our family. You know that if you mess up, there'll be another kid along in a minute who might do better."
I don't love the gimmick Nick Hornby uses where the poster that the main character Sam tells his problems to shuttles him in to the future to take a look at himself, but I do love all the touching characters, the banter, the drama about class difference, and the believable sweetness beneath the teenage exteriors. How does Hornby do it (so right), time after time after time?
