Decided to give this one a shot, and liked the first chapter involving Sasha and her kleptomania...but after that things just fell apart. Bennie's chapter wasn't bad, but the third chapter suddenly jumps into first-person (after being third-person the entire time) and it just gets more aggravating from there. I'm a bit of a stick-in-the-mud when it comes to narrative cohesiveness--I don't like my time jumping around unpredictably, and swaps between first- and third-person generally drive me nuts.

I can see why this is popular and it won the Pulitzer, but I can't get anywhere in it. I'd read another of this author's books (The Keep) and it was also had some weird narrative transitions, but it seems like she really took that a few steps farther in here.
