A wonderful sequel to Inside Out. This book picks up a few weeks after the events in the previous one, and provides more romance and action. It is interesting to see how Snyder answers the questions around what exactly happens after a revolution. It's not magically "all better," and there is a lot of work necessary to reconcile the population. Trella also sees a lot of personal growth throughout the action. As a 17 year-old former scrub, she has a lot of mental and emotional growth that she needs to undergo in order to truly see herself as a leader and to see how she fits into her new society. I also enjoyed reading about Snyder's ideas on what might have happened over the course of time in the Inside, especially with history lost - for example, their confusion on how systems work and what technology is considered new and what is not. The introduction of the Outside also adds an interesting dimension, as well as provides a number of additional questions that could be explored in future books. This book effectively wraps up many principal storylines, but also leaves the possibility for future books open.
