I was recently in a phase where I wanted to read a lot of sports fiction. Crackback was a past Nutmeg nominee that seemed to be pretty popular with the teens this summer. I have to say, I was not disappointed. I found Crackback to be fast paced and interesting enough to hold my attention throughout the duration.
Miles was a very realistic and sympathetic character. You really do feel badly for the myriad of ways that he gets jerked around - whether it is by his family, teammates, or coaches.
The football scenes were realistic and engaging.
I can always tell how much I liked a book by whether or not I really wish I knew what had happened to the characters after the story ended, and in the case of Miles and some of the other characters, I really did.
