Bo-ring. It's a really dull tale about two really dull people who get stuck in limbo together after being buried in an avalanche.

Somehow Joyce managed to create a book without any tension or drama, even when death was on the line. There's a mention of a past affair, but that's dropped in less than a page. And the wife is worried about telling her husband she's pregnant but nothing comes of it.

There were some brief moments of could-be-creepy with visions of crowds of people suddenly appearing and disappearing and mysterious shadowy figures lingering and still-smoking cigarette butts on the ground in a place devoid of life. But I didn't care so hard that none of this was remotely creepy - hard to be disturbed when you're like, "eh, kill 'em both, see if I care."
