Jefferson said that "Traveling makes a man wiser, but less happy" and so does reading this book. Our media, driven by an industry and wealth based agenda fused with the ugliest side of radical right wing, fails our democracy resulting in all of us being ill informed. Hatred and racism provide the fuel and smart manipulators link this to support a corporate agenda along with a war on facts. The money funds purchasing of books to bump garbage up the best seller list and it funds "institutes" which cynically put forth opinion and outright lies as "fact."

There's a war on facts with ideology claiming to be "truth" regardless of reality. If we organize for fact based reporting and take an active role in the process it is our best chance.
