Why have I not been reading Sarah Dessen constantly?

So I have to admit that, even though I'm an avid YA reader, this is, I do believe, my very first Sarah Dessen book. I mean, I've always known who she was, but reading her stuff never really seemed as pressing as reading the newest, shiniest dystopia or urban fantasy or Printz winner or whatever. Because I'm dumb, obviously.

Sarah Dessen, you are my new go-to for quick, fun, well-written realistic fiction about growing up and figuring out boy stuff. As the Texas summer slowly descends and begins to suck the energy out of me, I am looking forward to reading Dessen's complete oeuvre -- the perfect remedy for a brain fried by a semester of reading boring academic articles and death by powerpoint.

Emily It makes me happy that you're writing reviews now! I almost took a Sarah Dessen audiobook out of the library today, but I realized when I read the back that it was the only one I'd already read. I can't remember the title now, but it was about TEEN PREGNANCY and yet, at least to my teenage self, did not seem issue-y at all. So, awesome.
