This book allowed an insider perspective on the problems (social, political, economic) facing Afghanistan and a unique outsider perspective on the United states' involvement. I would recommend it to other with the caveat that it was so very badly written/edited that I couldn't enjoy the book as a piece of literature. I think Joya was done an injustice by the publisher....I look forward to instead listening to some of her speeches or checking out her website.
