This was a light and enjoyable read, polished off in one day. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I thought the magic was worked fairly well and subtly into the faux-Regency world. The end was a bit abrupt and unsatisfying, though, and overall the characters were modeled too closely on their Austen inspirations. The overall structure was very Pride and Prejudice, the central pair of sisters very like Sense and Sensibility, except that Melody was more selfish and spiteful than any actual Austen sister. I wish the main character had shown a little more insight and not been so blinded by plot needs. I did enjoy this, just not quite as much as I'd expected to.
