The Pilot's Wife
by Anita Shreve
by Anita Shreve
Maybe not the best book to take on a flight. I'd already packed my holiday books & grabbed this on impulse for my hand luggage.
The opening paragraph tells us of The Pilot's Wife being informed of a plane going down off the coast of Ireland. 55 minutes into a departure from Heathrow.
The book then plays out with Kathryn coming to terms with the death of her husband & the unravelling of the life she knew, as she pieces together an altogether different man she had been married to.
Maybe, a little predictable at times, it is still a satisfying read.
