"Seal Team Six" is the memoir of Howard E. Wasdin. Seal Team Six has come been in the news lately because this is the team that went in and killed Osama bin-Laden.

The Navy Seals may well be the best fighting force in the world, and Seal Team Six is the elite of the elite.

Wasdin was a Third Class Petty Officer when he decided to apply for Seal training. He takes the reader through the grueling training that it takes to be a Seal. It is not unusual for 50 to 75 per-cent of a Seal class to drop out. This is especially evident in "Hell Week" when man is pushed to the very limit of his capabilities, both mentally and physically. Seal training is the toughest and longest military training in the world.

After completing Seal training and receiving his Trident, Wasdin discovered the "elite of the elite" and put in for Seal Team Six. On acceptance, he found himself training in counterterrorism, hostage rescue, and counterinsurgency. He graduated from from the Marines' Scout Sniper School, which may be the best of its kind in the world. There were eighteen snipers in Seal Team Six and Wasdin became the best of the eighteen.

Marriage becomes a serious problem for Navy Seals and they have a high per-centage of divorces due to their time away from home and the fact that they are unable to tell their families where they are going or what their mission is. This, and the fact, that they feel that their first responibility is to their fellow Seals and the mission, make any outside relationship very difficult. Wasdin's marriage ended in divorce and it was only afer leaving the Seals that he was able to remarry and maintain a family relationship.

The book goes on to tell of his missions in Desert Storm and the Battle of Mogadishu. It was at Mogadishu that Wasdin was awarded the Silver Star for his heroic actions, he continued to lead and fight when both of his legs were nearly blown off.

Wasdin was medically discharged due to his injuries and returned to his hometown in Georgia and became a chiropractor.
