I didn't read this book when it was first written as I wasn't all that interested. The wedding of William and Catherine prompted me to find out more about Williams mother. I was very surprised to find out how unstable she actually was, how little care and advice she was given, and the extent of Charles relationship with Camilla. HOWEVER, it does state that she was quite a liar in her youth, and I have no doubt some of the events have been exaggerated. However, she was clearly in an arranged marriage and should have had so much more help and guidance and the blame for this not being given should be laid at Charles door.
Her legacy will be fulfilled by her eldest son and his wife, who will bring the monarchy into the 21st century. I am a royalist, but feel it is time to pair down the royal family, for the Queen to retire and allow a younger man to take over.
