I've always liked the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency books. Alexander McCall Smith has an amazing grasp of southern African culture, where I grew up. And, while the books may not be great literature, they're always great fun with engaging characters. The first few books in the series felt a little disjointed, without any overarching plot. This book, however, has an engaging plot line with several subplots. All-in-all the best to date.

One interesting thing about this book: It's the first one I've read a No. 1 Ladies' book since moving to southwestern New Mexico, and it made me even more aware of how much this part of the U.S. has in common with southern Africa. It made me homesick and glad to be home, all at the same time.

I read this book in audiobook format from Audible.com.
