I've been on a John Burdett kick-have read Bangkok 8 and Bangkok Tattoo this month as well. These books are really bizarre-which is precisely why I'm hooked. Have you ever heard of protagonist that is simultaneously a a non-corrupt Buddhist detective and a pimp who runs a whorehouse in Thailand with his mother? The mysteries are rather odd too, but complex enough to keep my attention. The best thing about these books is the characters and the feeling that one is transported to another world in both atmosphere and thought. This book is the best one so far, can't wait to read the fourth. If you decide to read these novels-check your skeptic's hat at the door and just let the story wash over you. I doubt you'll be disappointed.
