Just wrote a hugely long review here and pressed 'read' thinking it would go on that shelf and the entire review erased into cyberspace.

So, don't have time to do it again, but...

This is a great work! Loved it right up until the end. Clean writing, story moved though nothing really happened, more slice of any one of our lives coming into mid-life. Dog talking cute twist, but didn't really matter, more a way to soften main character Paul, make his self-indulgent, rather lazy nature more tolerable, even loveable, mirroring all of us at times.

Ending too pat, formulaic, like written by Algonquin instead of author to please an audience, but everything else about the book works great.

Good read! Well worth the time investment.
