The story of Jimmy, a middle-aged Scottish man who alienates his family through his sudden intensive undertaking of Buddhist study. His wife Liz, angered and frustrated by his declared abstinence, pursues an outside relationship. Meanwhile, teenage daughter Ann Marie is embarrassed and somewhat confused but seems to respect his lifestyle choice. Written in phonetic Scottish brogue, it is a unique and charming book.
