it was amazing
bookshelves: picture-books, read-aloud
Read in March, 2012

I read this for "Read Across America" in 2012 at one of our local elementary schools. The kids LOVED it. Before reading it I pointed out to them the words that they might not be familiar with such as "wellies" and "football". The picture for football is clearly a soccer ball... the kids (first graders) already knew the difference. There was also a girl that knew that "wellies" meant "boots" so it was all good. They were in hysterics when I read all of the different sounds by request and had to turn the book around and around in order to read them all as they were scattered across the page. This is one of my favorite read alouds and yet I haven't had to order it in 6 years as we still have the 4 copies I ordered back in 2006. I have actually read it many times before but I'll list March 2nd since it has been awhile since I last read it.
