Though often too snarky and repetitive, the book was still nice to relax with after a hard run. Like Ms. Dais, I'm not an athlete by nature, and so I found her self-deprecations and surprise revelations a comfort at times, like sharing "war-stories" with a fellow runner over coffee. If it was the first thing I read when starting to run, I probably would not have been so frustrated watching her unnecessarily injure herself and remain in permanent lactic acid overload. I would have thought, "Ha! That's me! I'm out of shape, too!" Unfortunately (fortunately) I have educated myself a bit more on this sport, and I know that taking up running (even marathon training) shouldn't feel like being hit daily with a train. No wonder she talks the whole book about how she plans to NEVER run again after finishing the marathon! I thought that was a shame and was SUPER relieved to read at the end that she was going to keep going, albeit at a more moderate pace.
