This is a marvelous mystery, well written and with wonderful characters.

Dr. Nicholas Polchak is a forensic entomologist, AKA The Bug Man. Katheryn Guilford hires him to help her prove that a good friend did not commit suicide.

This is a complicated story with lots of details about entomology and how it is used in the field of forensics. Basically, Nick studies the life cycle of insects that feed and reproduce on dead bodies. Sometimes a tad gruesome if those kind of descriptions both you, but it is fascinating science that can totally destroy a carefully planned alibi. I'll admit that I love this field, have read books on the topic as well as love to watch "true crime" shows on tv. My favorites revolve around the Body Farm in Tennessee and the work of Dr. William Bass, Dr. Bass's work on the breakdown of the human body and the huge part that the insect world plays that breakdown are fascinating reads.

My thanks to the folks over on DorothyL for recommending this series, I can't wait to read more adventures of the Bug Man.
