Taryn at My Secret Romance I wasn't a fan of the first book either, Katie. But they do get better.

Katie I honestly only got/read this because it was free. Have you read them all? I was going to type up a review but so many of my GR friends absolutely love Lorelei James, I didn't want to anger anyone.

Taryn at My Secret Romance That's always tough when everyone seems to love a book except you. I'm almost afraid to type up my Fifty Shades Freed one...

Yes, I read most of them. After reading this book, my friend went and bought me 4 of the books to this series because she swears they get better (she is obsessed with this series.) And they do. I am so glad she pushed me to read them. I really do like this series a lot, I just can't read them all at one time. I have the second book to lend via kindle if you want. Let me know and I can send it right over.

Katie I've enjoyed erotica but this heroine to me was too much of a slut bag. That was my biggest problem, it was porn.
Thanks for the lend offer. Have you read the second one? Is it less bow chika wow wow? I really need a plot.

~V~ I agree with what the other girls have said...they def. get better and i've enjoyed the majority of them...bk. 1 and bk. 5 being the exceptions. :)

~V~ Yeah...that whole book kinda rubbed me the wrong way! LOL!

Kristen Looks like this book wouldn't be for me either. I like "romantica" not porn. I want plot, dialogue, and depth of character in my erotica. Thanks for the heads up, Katie

Katie Ok, all my opinion of course... Most of my GR friends absolutely loved this book so I really thought I'd love it, but I really couldn't stand Channing. And after BamaGal's comments about what she does later in the series I hate her even more. I didn't feel the love between Colby and Channing. The "love" started with Colby not wanting to watch Channing get it on with his friends anymore. What a guy... I know it was supposed to give the erotic tale of Channing discovering her sexuality or whatever but when a woman walks in on two men going at it then says "hey, mind if I watch?" That is a cliche' beginning of any D porno flick I could sum up.

Yes, I read the second one and liked it so much more. Like I said, I will lend it to you so you can see that way you don't have to buy it in case you don't like it.

The later books are very much emotional romantica, starting with Cowgirl Up and Ride.

This one is more of a sex fest.

I HATED when Channing watched both men. Give me a break! Try the second book! It's different!

~V~ I liked the 2nd one alright, def. better than the 1st but the 3rd one, in my opinion, was WAY better than the 1st two..that one and the 8th book were my favorites! Also really liked Colt's book..the 6th one. It really is unfortunate that you have to go through the earlier awful ones to get to the better ones..there really are some good ones in the bunch.

~V~ BamaGal wrote: "Plus, James' writing gets much better as the series goes along; especially from the 6th book on. That was when I really began to see that the hot sex was starting to complement the story and not c..."

Really?..i did not know that! I'll have to check those out!

~V~ You know Katie...you could prob. skip bk. 2 and go right on to bk. 3...bk. 2 was def. an improvement on the 1st book but it still wasn't the greatest and there's nothing in that book, i don't think, that contributes to future books. There ARE a few things that happen in bk 3 however that DO contribute to future books and that was pretty good..along with book 4. If you happen to like those and are interested in continuing w/ the other books i would SKIP book 5..that one was just as bad as the 1st book, in my honest opinion! LOL! Naysa is right about the bks getting much better after that..i really enjoyed books 6, 7, and 8 a lot!! Good luck..hope they get a little better for you! :)
