This was a fun book to read and is really fun to read aloud. The author uses onomatopoeia to describe many things the character hears as she goes on her "listening walk." This could be used as a mentor text to model onomatopoeia as part of a writers craft. It could also be used as a science mentor text if you discuss sound in your science curriculum.
