We just returned from Maui today, April 4, 2008, so things are fresh in my mind. Don't get me wrong - this book is good, but there were a few things I disagreed with.

First, we took the Quicksilver snorkeling tour to the Molokini crater, and it was wonderful!! Would recommend that to anyone.

Second, I disagreed with a few of the Road to Hana stops that they suggest. Things may have changed since the book was published, but some of the places we could not see and we followed the book to the letter.

Third, the Road to Hana is CLOSED at the end!! They kind of say this in the book, but they write with the assumption that by the time you're reading the book, it will be open. IT IS NOT!! So don't think you are going to go all the way around the island through the Road to Hana. Once you get to the end you have to turn around.

Fourth, we stayed at the Sands of Kahana, which they gave a so-so rating. We really enjoyed it! We had never been to Maui before, and of course, it is no Grand Wailea, but we had a great experience there. Clean, roomy, ocean view - great.

And last, but not least, it seemed as if EVERYONE had this guidebook! It is not a secret anymore. So a lot of the places they say "no one goes here" have either been hit with a "no trespassing" sign due to too many people, or are crowded with other tourists.

Other than those few disagreements, we found this book to be VERY helpful in getting around Maui.
