Baseball in the Garden of Eden: The Secret History of the Early Game

"Baseball in the Garden of Eden" is the most interesting, best researched book on the topic that I've read. My fascination with the the hoary details of 19th century baseball just barely counter-balances how poorly written and edited the book is. It's hard to fault a book that contains so much amazing information and so many juicy historical tidbits, but I'd imagine its shortcomings in literary structure will restrict it to the smaller cannon of the obsessive sports historian.
